Supported tenancies

What is a supported tenancy?

We provide support to people living in emergency and temporary accommodation provided by the council. We also help you find permanent accommodation and to help people to live independently.

The type of support given will depend on your circumstances, for example:

  • Help in applying for benefits.
  • Help with bidding for properties on Salford Home Search
  • Advice on budgeting, making the most of your income and managing rent arrears or other money that you may owe to people.
  • Help you settle into your home, contacting utility suppliers (Gas, Water, Electric).
  • Advice and assistance on furnishing your home.
  • Support accessing medical and specialist services.
  • Support accessing training, education, leisure activities and community engagement.

What happens next?

Once you have moved into temporary accommodation, you will have your Supported Tenancy Officer and they will look at your situation and will help with your support needs (if you have any).

All of the information is private and confidential. Staff are fully trained and checked (with the Disclosure and Barring Service). All staff carry identity cards.
