Post-16 education and training
The raising participation team has the responsibility for supporting young people aged 16 to 18 to participate and progress in education, employment and training. The team is responsible for:
- The raising of the participation age (RPA) to 17 in 2013 and 18 in 2015
- Reducing the numbers of young people aged 16 to 18 not participating in education, employment or training (NEET)
- Supporting targeted and vulnerable groups of young people to participate in education and training
The team are also involved in developing and commissioning other forms of support and provision for young people in Salford, including work experience and apprenticeships. They also manage the common application process (CAP) in Salford and coordinate the local authority's 14 to 19 strategic partnership.
