    To achieve a real reduction in crime and disorder across the city through the three interrelated principles of intervention, prevention and detection

    To support and stimulate life-long learning and cultural activity to enable our citizens, and particularly our children and young people, to maximise their potential and pursue personal development and fulfilment.
  4. A city where children and young people are valued
    To provide a framework where children and young people can thrive and improve their life chances.
  5. An inclusive city
    To ensure that all our citizens have the resources and support they need to participate fully in the life of their community and in society generally.
  6. An economically prosperous city
    To create an economically prosperous city that encourages investment, supports business development, and enables local people to achieve their full potential
  7. A city that's good to live in
    To create a city that is good to live in by providing good quality homes in a clean, safe and well maintained environment and to maximise accessibility by public transport, cycling and walking to employment, recreational and community facilities.
