Welcome to the pages for the Irlam and Cadishead Neighourhood Area. Here you will find information about the neighbourhood as well as current news, useful contacts, and opportunities for getting involved.

The neighbourhood area is made up of the wards of Irlam and Cadishead. For statistical information about these wards see our ward profiles page.

The area is extremely varied - the northern half is moss land, enabling Irlam and Cadishead to have the largest farming community in Salford. The southern half is mainly residential, having its own major employment source based on the Northbank Industrial Estate.

Help us plan Cadishead Park

Salford City Council and Urban Vision are producing a master plan for the future of Cadishead Park. We are inviting local people to find out about the plans and to give us your views.

Leisure/community facilities/groups

Irlam and Cadishead has numerous sports clubs, bands and interest groups. A list is available at the two local libraries.

The leisure facilities in Irlam and Cadishead are expanding with the new Acorn Sports and Art Centre recently opened and a new football ground also recently re-established. Fit City have two centres - one in each district - comprising a large swimming pool and sports facilities. There is also an active angling club and the old river makes excellent fishing. .

Irlam and Cadishead benefit from large expanses of open space and parks. A major community consultation on Prince's Park, Cadishead Park and Lords Street Recreation Ground has taken place and an action plan has been drawn up with ideas for improvement. The action plan and the master plan for Prince's Park are available in the local libraries.

Shopping

The main shopping area is located off Fairhills Road and includes 24 hours Tesco Superstore and Lidl.  Since the redevelopment of the former Neighbourhood Centre site, some of the smaller shops have relocated to premises along the main A57 Liverpool Road Corridor.

Food & drink

Irlam & Cadishead has a great choice of pubs with a couple of restaurants from which to choose.

Community committee and local task groups

Community Committee meetings for Irlam and Cadishead are held bimonthly. Anyone wanting to find out what's going on or get involved is invited to attend. Community Action Plan (CAP)

An action plan for the area is produced every year by the community committee. A copy of the action plan can be downloaded from the CAP page.

Other

In addition, Irlam & Cadishead are well-served by doctors and dentists including one large health centre and three smaller surgeries.
