Provider services

Provider services is led by Dave Clemmett
Salford City Council provide a range of adult care services supporting older people, people with learning difficulties and people with physical and sensory concerns.
Mental health services are covered by Greater Manchester West Mental Health Trust, which is divided into Salford, Trafford and Bolton. There are strong partnerships between the city council, health services and the independent and voluntary sector, which result in a co-ordinated and one stop approach to customers. Most of social services are provided by the independent and voluntary sectors, but the city council still provides its own, specialist services:
- day services
- short breaks
- meals service
- community occupational therapy and equipment
- supported tenancies
- transport
Day services
We are developing day services so that they are more responsive to customers’ needs and based in local communities. Rather than asking people to travel across the city to attend a day centre, where there may be a variety of activites, we are developing more local services. These may not be based in a building - for example, we have set up a health group for people with learning difficulties who are using Fit City Clarendon’s exercise suite.
Short breaks
We provide short breaks at two specialist residential care homes - The Limes and Granville, as well as through our adult placement scheme, where people lodge on a short-term basis (from a few hours to a few days) with a family. The Limes also operates as a rehabilitation centre for people to help people recover from, for instance, a stay in hospital.
Meals service
We can deliver hot, nutritious meals to your door if you are unable to cook for yourself.
Dementia support
Humphrey Booth Resource Centre is an older person’s mental health resource centre specialising in dementia care. The resource centre comprises of a day service, community mental health team, emergency duty team, telecare, care on call, and there are strong links with the Alzheimers Society and Age Concern.
Supported tenancies
In learning difficulty services there is an integrated tenancy network comprising of 30 houses supporting people with complex needs. Small groups (three or four people) rent a home and we support them with live-in workers.
Community occupational therapy and equipment
For people with physical / sensory concerns there is an integrated health and social care one stop resource centre at Burrows House. This comprises occupational therapy assessment services with an equipment store, and major adaptations completed in partnership with Housing Connections. We are also able to provide modular adaptations to properties.
Transport
The council’s passenger transport unit supports people to use community resources, and particularly day services and schools.
