Salford Community Covenant Partnership Board

A local Salford Community Covenant Partnership Board has been established to develop the aims of the covenant by bringing together all relevant partners and to oversee the development of the covenant in Salford including:

  • To agree the current situation locally, the needs of the local armed forces community, any gaps that need addressing and actions to be taken
  • Evaluate and agree bids to the national Community Covenant Grant Fund
  • Monitor the achievements of the covenant

The membership of the board includes representatives from various organisations.

Salford Community Armed Forces Community Covenant Partnership Board terms of reference

  1. To raise public awareness of the work of the armed forces and the issues affecting service personnel, ex-armed forces personnel and their families
  2. To encourage local communities to support the local armed forces community
  3. To highlight and encourage opportunities for serving personnel and ex-armed forces personnel to contribute to civilian society
  4. To raise awareness within the council and across partners of the needs of serving personnel, ex-armed forces personnel and their families. Thereby ensuring that the needs of this group are considered in policy development and service delivery where appropriate
  5. To raise awareness within the council and the armed forces of the support services currently provided for serving personnel, ex-armed forces personnel and their families by the council, voluntary and community sector organisations and businesses
  6. To develop an informal ‘network of communication,' comprising key representatives from the council, partner organisations and the armed forces, to oversee the implementation and ongoing development of the covenant
