Paying for non-residential care

If you are involved in arranging care or working with carers, this workshop will give you a basic understanding of the City Council's policy on charging for support in the community.

It covers how income, savings, benefits and disability affect the amount a service user has to pay and will enable you to explain this to your clients.

Content

  • Changes introduced under the Care Act
  • An overview of the charging policy
  • What counts as disability related expenditure
  • Calculation examples
  • Question and answer session

What participants said last time

  • "Clear, concise and easy to understand. All questions clearly explained."
  • "Excellent - should be compulsory for all social workers."
  • "I am regularly asked by service users about possible charges for home care - will assist my practice greatly."

We will be running our next programme of welfare reform workshops from January 2019. If you would like one of the workshops or a bespoke workshop for your team then please contact Debbie.witton@salford.gov.uk for details.
