Aerial thermal images
Creating an aerial thermal image of Salford
A thermal aerial survey was undertaken between 6.00pm and 9.00pm, on Thursday 5 April 2007. An image of Salford showing heat loss was created, and this was used to derive information for each property. The ordnance survey house outline was used to determine the average heat loss across the whole of the building footprint. In this way a warm chimney and a cold roof would be averaged to show an average heat loss.
Buildings showing a low heat loss could be well insulated, or alternatively could not be heated or were not heated at the time of the survey. It therefore doesn't mean that they are well insulated.
Where heat loss is high then the suggestion is that the building is poorly insulated and it may be worth considering what energy saving measures you could be taking to save money on your fuel bills.
Getting help to insulate your home
If you are an owner occupier or a private tenant the council's Affordable Warmth Team can give you information on the no-cost or low-cost home insulation schemes available in the city. Email them at KeepingWarm@salford.gov.uk or telephone them on 0161 922 8732.
Find the heat loss of your home
Please enter your street name or full postcode. The thermal rating of your house will be shown once you have selected your property.
