Alley gating

Alley gating is a simple method of restricting access to the rear of your property by erecting lockable gates at the end of your alley. This makes it harder for burglars to break in to your home and also creates a safe communal area for residents.
So far Salford has carried out over 400 alley gating schemes across the city covering more than 9,000 properties. This year, a small number of alley gating schemes are being carried out in areas where there are recorded issues with crime and anti-social behviour.
Applying for alley gating
The Housing Crime Reduction team has a small amount of funding that residents can apply for to cover 50% of the cost of an alley gating scheme. Residents will have to find the remaining 50% themselves.
