Dead animals

Salford City Council is able to provide a collection service for dead animals found on the street or in a public open space.

If the animal is found wearing a collar, this is removed and returned to the owner. Every reasonable effort is made to trace the owner to inform them of their pet's death.

Collected animals are taken to the incinerator at Cobden Street, Salford. For further information please call 0161 909 6500 or email environment@salford.gov.uk.

Dead birds

If you find a dead swan, goose or duck or five or more dead wild birds together in the same place, please report this by calling the Defra Helpline on 08459 33 55 77. You should not touch or handle the dead bird. If you find any other single dead birds, including garden birds then you do not need to call the Defra Helpline.
