Apply for a primary school place online

If you wish to apply for a nursery or reception school place for your child you can now apply online using our interactive form.

Before you apply make sure you look at the following checklist:

  1. Do you have a working email address?
  2. Do you have parental responsibility for the child for which you are applying for a place?
  3. Is your child a Salford resident?

If you can answer "yes" to the above questions then you are ready to apply for a school place online.

Our interactive form will guide you through the process so that you only need to fill in the sections that apply to your application.

The step-by-step process of applying for a nursery/reception school place online is as follows:

  1. Before you can make your application you will need to register using a vaild, working email address and choose a password.
  2. If you are applying for more than one child you will need to fill in a separate application for each child.
  3. If you change your mind after submitting your application you can login and change your choices at any point up until the closing date of 17 January 2011.  You must remember to resubmit your application.

Where can you find out more information on the application process?

The 'Choosing a Primary School ' booklet contains information on the application process.

To apply for a nursery/reception school place using our online form your child must be a Salford resident.

We aim to help parents get their child a place in the nursery/reception school of their choice. However, as many schools receive more applications than they have places, we need a process to decide which children get a place and which have to go to other schools. As a result we ask for you to choose a number of schools and put them in order of your choice.

How are nursery/reception school places allocated?

Places in nursery and reception classes maintained by Salford Local Authority are allocated using published admissions criteria (see nursery/reception admissions criteria).

Voluntary Aided primary schools may have different admissions criteria.  To view each individual school's criteria see the 'Choosing a Primary School' booklet.

The deadline for making your application is 17 January 2011.

Please remember that your child is not guaranteed a place at the school of your choice at this stage. An email, followed by a letter, will be sent to you on 15 April 2011 informing you of the school place your child has been offered.
