Audit and risk management

The section provides a wide range of complementary services under one umbrella, which enables us to draw on a variety of specialist skills to meet customer requirements. We have an established and growing reputation across the local government sector as experts in the application of risk-based audit methodologies and computer audit services.

We are also acknowledged as peer leaders in the provision of energy management audits and advice. Our services have recently expanded in response to the increased emphasis on corporate governance within the public sector, particularly in relation to risk management.

Our range of services include:

  • Internal audit - risk analysis of all systems, evaluation of controls, and production of individual reports on the adequacy of internal controls.
  • Computer audit- risk-based reviews of the information technology function.
  • Contract audit - risk-based audit of capital and service contracts.
  • Insurance and risk management - ensuring appropriate insurance arrangements for the organisation and the development of the risk management framework.
  • Forensic services - investigation of all areas of concern including financial irregularities.
  • Whistleblowing - the team also acts as the central focus for calls received via the council’s anti-fraud hotline. Any whistleblowing complaints can be made confidentially by telephone to 0808 100 1235.
