Art sessions

Victorian Gallery

Salford Museum offer a programme of art workshops for Key Stage 2. Choose a theme and your class can have a session with a professional artist.

A two hour session costs £70.00. Please call 0161 778 0821 for further information or to book a session.

There are four sessions to choose from:

Images of the sea
The sea features in different ways in several paintings in the Victorian Gallery. This workshop looks at techniques of painting the sea in detail, focusing in particular on texture and colour. Pupils will take home their own seascape painting.

Stories in paintings
Stories and symbolism were a recurring theme of Victorian art. This workshop will look at some of the paintings in the Victorian Gallery and discuss the way in which they tell stories. This will be used as a starting point for our own artwork and stories, focusing on creative ideas and composition. Pupils will be able to take their work home with them.

The Victorians
Create a large scale artwork based on the Visit of the Queen to Peel Park painting in the Victorian Gallery. Look at the textures and patterns of the frames to decorate the hanging. Pupils will be able to take a piece of artwork home.

Print Making
Explore the art of printmaking using the gallery as your inspiration.
