Arts development
Salford City Council Arts Development Service is established within the Cultural Services in the Community, Health and Social Care directorate.
The team was formed in 2003. The services assists both the city council and other agencies and partners to achieve their aims, delivering art activities that support the city’s Seven Pledges in key areas such as regeneration, social inclusion, quality of life and improving health.
The service has gained a good track record for partnership working and delivering high quality commissions through employing freelance artist and companies and securing external funding from a wide range of agencies. These include Community Committees, Salford Drug and Alcohol Action Team, Arts Council England, North West, Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, Neighbourhood Opportunities Fund, Building Safer Communities, Manchester Airport, Property Developers and Housing Associations.

- The management of arts development programmes and projects in neighbourhood areas
- The management and development of art work in the public realm
- Advice, advocacy, support and information for the professional, voluntary and community art sectors
- Advocacy within other council departments and externally with other bodies e.g. regeneration projects, property developers, charities, etc
- Links into local, regional and national arts initiatives and institutions
- Commissioning arts development services (for hire)
