Baby LifeCheck
Complete a NHS Baby LifeCheck and give your baby the best start in life
When your baby cries, is it hungry, in need of a change or just wanting a bit of love? There is probably nothing quite as challenging as becoming a mum or dad for the first time and you can't learn it all from a book.
Relatives and friends who already have children are often the best source of advice when things get fraught, but sometimes it's nice to know that help is also just a click away - a little bit of luxury without the worry of being judged.
If you are the parent or carer of a baby aged between five and eight months, this site is for you.
NHS Baby LifeCheck has easy-to-understand information on topics including:
- how your baby is developing
- playing and learning together
- keeping your baby safe
- feeding and healthy teeth
- sleep routines
- becoming a parent
Just answer a few simple questions and NHS Baby LifeCheck will give you all the latest expert advice and can help you keep your baby happy, healthy and safe. All NHS LifeChecks are confidential. No one can see or read your answers. You can print off your results if wish to show them to a health professional or someone you trust.
Baby LifeCheck:
- Aims to support parents of young children at a time when there are no scheduled contacts with healthcare professionals.
- Is not a medical assessment and has no symptom checker. Parents who are worried that their baby is ill should call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
- Is designed to offer parents somewhere to go for advice and support 24 hours a day on an on-going basis.
There is also the Teen LifeCheck for young people between 12 and 15 years.
