Barry Eden

Avid music fan Barry Eden, finds that his hobby has helped to bring comfort to hundreds of Salford people.

As part of a two-man team who look after Salford's Peel Green Crematorium, he is the 'front man' who looks after the mourners, the ministers - and the music.

"Ours is a very difficult job which has to be handled with sensitivity. We really do our best for families and try to make the occasion as trouble free as possible.

"I have a really good collection of music, and funeral directors often phone and say that a particular piece of music is needed and no-one can get hold of it. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction to provide that extra service and make the occasion just that little bit more special. It's something people really appreciate.
