BBC Philharmonic

The BBC's very own orchestra moved into their new home at MediaCityUK in June 2011 but their continuing exciting partnership with Salford never skipped a beat.
The BBC Philharmonic musicians have already been making themselves heard across the city, playing concerts at Eccles Fire Station, Lowry Outlet Mall, Perkins Parts Factory and many more.
Last year over 80 Salford residents, young and old, formed the Salford Family Orchestra and eventually played at the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.
In November 2011, The BBC Philharmonic joined forces with over 200 Salford schoolchildren to perform Songs from the Bridgewater, a celebration in words and music of the 250th anniverary of the Bridgewater Canal, at The Lowry.
2012 continues in the same vein with a range of exciting concerts, projects and much more coming up throughout the year, including the Salford Family Orchestra which returns for an Olympic themed performance this spring.
BBC Philharmonic Presents Festival
To celebrate the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra's move to its new home at MediaCityUK at Salford Quays, an amazing two week festival took place with a host of BBC radio stars performing live on BBC national radio networks, playing a different genre of music to reflect each station.
