Getting involved
At Barton Moss Childen's Centre, we actively try to be involved in our community, and encourage all to have some involvement with the children's centre. We believe that this will help us to improve the services that we provide for you, and allow you to get the most you possibly can out of the centre for yourself and your children if you have any.
There are many ways to get involved, depending on your circumstances and interests. We are always keen to have volunteers on board who continue to prove invaluable to the running of the centre. There is also the parents' forum and advisory board or even just feedback and comments forms.
Parents' forum
The parents' forum is your chance to have a real say in what happens in your local children's centre. At a parents' forum you will have the opportunity to have your say, as well as being the voice of other parents that use the centre. At our most recent parents' forum the parents contributed in making final decisions to the plans for our outdoor space as well as voting on where they would like to go for our Christmas trip.
For information on dates of meetings please telephone 0161 778 0060 or alternatively call into the centre. We look forward to seeing you.
Advisory Board
'An advisory board must provide advice and assistance for the purpose of ensuring the effective operation of the children's centre within its remit.' (Childcare Act 2006).
Our advisory board meets four times a year to discuss how well the centre is performing and any areas for improvement. As a parent representative you can have your say about the services on offer and meet the professionals who deliver them.
Our next meeting is being held on 20 December at 12.00 noon and we are always seeking parent/carer representatives to sit on our advisory board. if this is something you would be interested in taking part in then please contact the centre on 0161 778 0060.
Volunteering at the centre
Would you like to learn new skills, or put your existing skills to good use in your community? The children's centre is always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers who can offer little or much time. Volunteering can help to develop skills and boost your CV if you are job hunting or trying to get back into work.
We currently have four very enthusiastic volunteers who have recently just completed their paediatric first aid course as well as running sessions at the centre and assisting on trips as well as in the community doing outreach work.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact the centre on 0161 778 0060 for more information.
Feedback and comments
You may be unable to volunteer or be involved in the forums and advisory board, but you can still get involved in the centre. Have your thoughts heard through our feedback and comments forms. Whether you have ideas for a new session, see room for improvement in one of our services, or would just like to tell us which bits you appreciate and work well for you, we want to know about it. It just takes a couple of minutes to note it on a feedback and comments slip and hand it in to reception or any member of staff. Just ask any session leader or reception for a feedback and comments slip at any time.
