The Big Green Festival

The festival, hosted by environmental enthusiast Fred “the weatherman” Talbot, came to Salford Civic Centre on Saturday 26 June and included lots of activities and information about ‘green living’ for all age groups, helping to create a better understanding of climate change, what impact it can have on us here in Salford and show the measures that you can take to help reduce your carbon footprint.
Activities included:
- Eco chat with Fred Talbot
- How to grow your own produce
- Cooking demos, making the most out of "cupboard foods"
- Green stalls, advice and tips on how you can save money, energy and water whilst reducing your carbon footprint, plus lots more. Get inspired there is something for everyone!
- Solar-powered cinema
- Rickshaw rides
- Music from "Urban Strawberry Lunch"
- Green craft workshops
- BMX, skating and skateboard performances, coaching and obstacle course
- Kite-stunt display team and the chance to get involved!
- The Bike Doctor and recycling facility for unwanted bikes
And for the little ones!
- Jelly from CBeebies
- Jeepers creepers, educational tent of critters
- Sunflower and Lily, the stilt-walking flowers
- Face painting
