Building Schools for the Future

Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is a government investment programme to improve secondary school provision. More than £150 million is available to invest in transforming the city's secondary school education.

The first new buildings opened in September 2011 at Walkden and Irlam and Cadishead.

An ICT Managed Service is being delivered to all high schools in the city as part of BSF and will be delivered to the vast majority of primary schools by the end of 2011.

Oasis Academy MediaCityUK is being rebuilt on Trafford Road and will be open by September 2012. Three new schools, Moorside High School (and Moorside Primary), St Ambrose Barlow RC and St Patrick's RC High Schools have just received planning permission and will be complete by September 2013.

BSF is a long term programme of investment and change aimed at transforming secondary education by providing 21st century learning environments for all secondary pupils across the city, providing more opportunities for pupils and a greater range of services at each school.
