Budget consultation 2012 to 2013
Following the government's comprehensive spending review in 2010, a two year grant settlement for local authorities was announced for the financial years 2011 to 2012 and 2012 to 2013. This meant that Salford City Council needed to find savings of nearly £40 million in this current year's budget with a further £18 million in the 2012 to 2013 revenue budget.
Decisions will be made in February 2012 on how money should be allocated amongst Salford City Council services, such as refuse collection, libraries, sports centres, road maintenance and housing and the provision of social care for adults and children.
Residents were asked for their views on where they felt the money should be allocated. The budget consultation exercise ended on 25 November 2011. A summary of comments received will be published shortly.
A budget debate will be broadcast on Salford City Radio (94.4 FM) on Tuesday 17 January at 2.00pm, listen to councillors discuss issues raised in the consultation.
