Bulky items
Give your furniture a new lease on life!
Salford City Council in partnership with CT Home Salford can now provide residents with a free collection service for any re-usable bulky waste items such as beds, suites, drawers, washing machines and tumble dryers.
CT Home Salford is a charity which collects good quality unwanted furniture for the re-supply to families and individuals in need and will collect any reusable household items free of charge.
What items can be collected free
- Beds
- Three piece suites
- Washing machines
- Tumble dryers
- Wardrobes
- Chest of drawers
- Dressing and dining tables
To be eligible, your bulky waste items need to be in good condition and not flat packed, damaged or in need of dismantling for transport.
How to arrange collection?
To arrange a collection or for more information please call CT Home Salford on 0161 736 8852 or email: salford@communitytransport.org.
Mustard Tree can also collect household furniture in a reasonable condition. To arrange collection call 0161 228 7331. If you have any small electrical goods, clothing, curtains or bric-a-brac, you take it along to their shop located at 15 Southway, Eccles, M30 0LJ.
Disposal of non re-usable bulky waste
Unfortunately, CT Home Salford or Mustard Tree cannot collect items that are not re-useable such as non fire retardant suites, mattresses, other soft furnishings, fridges and wooden items in need of repair.
In this case, you can recycle them at your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Alternatively, the council can collect up to four items of bulky waste from you at a cost of £24.14 per collection (excluding builder's rubble, bricks, concrete, paving flags and other heavy items and gas bottles).
For more than four items or to arrange a collection from commercial premises, one of our environmental co-ordinators will visit you to quote an individual price. We will endeavour to remove the items within 7 to 14 days including weekends. Exceptions for OAPs on council tax or housing benefit (up to four items only).
For more information or to arrange a collection please us on 0161 909 6500 or email environment@salford.gov.uk.
