There are a number of grant schemes and support services in Salford aimed at helping you develop your business.

Business security

Grants assistance is available throughout Salford towards the cost of security measures for commercial and Industrial premises.

  • Security shutters, grilles and fencing
  • Close circuit TV and lighting
  • Installing alarm systems
  • Access control

Applicants are required to have a mandatory security audit, conducted free of charge.

Salford loan fund

This fund is available to all existing or new Salford companies as a part of their funding package with new or current lenders. Money is available towards the cost of expansion, relocation and the purchase of capital items or working capital. Qualifying projects must create or develop employment opportunities.

Key features of the loan include:

  • Up to £25,000 may be available
  • Repayment period up to 5 years
  • Interest rates are fixed between 9% to 12% p.a.
  • Capital holiday repayments of up to 3 months may be negotiated

Selective finance for investment

BERR (Department For Business Enterprise & Regulatory Reform) Selective Assistance (RSA) and the Enterprise Grant Scheme (EGS) programmes in Salford have been replaced by Selective Finance for Investment will be delivered by the North West Development agency and can assist with the purchase of plant and equipment and associated building costs.

The amount awarded depends on:

  • The impact that the project will have on the economy
  • Growth in productivity
  • Viability
  • Need for grant
  • The number of NVQ level 2 jobs created or safeguarded (not required for applications of £100,000 or less)

Eligible expenditure may include fixed assets such as:

  • Equipment, plant and machinery
  • Some associated one-off costs such as the acquisition of patents
  • Associated site preparation and buildings

Who can apply? Any Salford based company with less than 250 employees or those relocating to the city (excluding retail).

The grant can offer between 7.5% and 15% of fixed costs depending on the size and location of the Company.
