Health Promotion
The work of the Environmental Health team includes that of health promotion.Within food hygiene we promote the safe handling of food in the home using various hygiene messages to include hand hygiene, 4 C’s (cleaning, cooking, cooling and avoiding cross contamination). The approach builds on our successes to date and has particular focus on nurseries, schools and community groups. These are groups where we are most likely to have the largest impact in terms of food hygiene behaviour. Studies have shown that children, for example, who understand the link between food hygiene and food poisoning, are more likely to engage in good practice.
