Compulsory Purchase of land in Salford

Notice is hereby given that the council of the City of Salford have made the Salford City Council (Glendinning Street, Salford – new access road) Compulsory Purchase Order 2007 under Section 239 of the Highways Act 1980. It is about to submit this Order to the Secretary of State for Transport, for confirmation and if confirmed, the Order will authorise the council of the City of Salford to purchase compulsorily, the land described below, for the purposes of the construction of an access road to an adjoining new school, from the junction of Sydney Street and Glendinning Street, to a point approximately 11 metres east of the junction of Norway Street and Amos Street. A copy of the Order and of the accompanying map may be seen at all reasonable hours at the Law and Administration Division, Customer and Support Services Directorate, Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford, M27 5DA and Broadwalk Library, Broadwalk, Salford M6 5FX. Any objection to the Order must be made in writing to the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Authority Orders, Citygate, Gallowgate, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 4WH before the Twenty Third day of May 2008 and should state the title of the Order, the grounds of objection, and the objectors address and interest in the land.

Description of land

Vacant land situate generally between the junction of Sydney Street and Glendinning Street, extending in an easterly direction to the junction of Norway Street and Amos Street (including a small portion of Norway Street) then continuing and ending a further 11 metres east, to include a portion of 48/52 Amos Street, inclusive of the rear passageway. The order land also includes land fronting 73 and 75 Norway Street and the former passageway adjacent to the garden of 17 Sydney Street, to include part of the sites of the former dwellinghouse 69/71 Norway Street and 34/36 Glendinning Street, together with an almost triangular shaped plot of land adjacent to number 36, to include all land within the order boundary.
