Blue Badges
The blue badge scheme provides a range of parking concessions for people with severe mobility problems or anyone registered blind who has difficulty using public transport. Badge holders can be either the driver or the passenger of a vehicle they are travelling in.
Who can get a blue badge?
To qualify for a blue badge you must be a resident of Salford. Eligibility for the scheme is outlined below:-
Automatically eligible to apply for a badge if you are two years old and over and either:
- receive higher rate of the moblity component of the Disability Living Allowance
- are registered blind
- receive a War pensioner's mobility supplement
You may also be eligible for a badge if you are two years old and over and either:
- have a permanent and sustainable disability which means you cannot walk, or walking is very difficult
- drive a motor vehicle regularly, have a severe disability in both arms, and are unable to operate all or some types of parking meter (or would find it very difficult to operate them)
If you are a parent of a child who is less than two years old, you many apply for a badge for your child if they have a specific medical condition which means that they either:
- must always be accompanied by bulky medical equipment which cannot be carried around without great difficulty
- close to a vehicle at all times, so that if treatment or medical attention is needed quickly you are near by to receive the treatment or be taken to a hospital

Please note: Applications must be accompanied by two passport sized photographs and a £2:00 application fee. Payments can be made by cheque (made payable to Salford City Council), Social Services stamps (obtained at your local post office), by phoning the Blue Badge team on 0161 793 2259.
Please be aware that cash payments can only be made in person at Crompton House - CASH PAYMENTS MUST NOT BE SENT BY POST.
Photographs
Please note that photographs are a requirement. If you have difficulty using a photo-booth there is a facility at the Blue Badge Office where you can have your photographs taken in DDA compliant surroundings for a fee of £2.00.
