Hoarding and scaffolding
Any scaffold or hoarding which encroaches or projects over the Highway requires a scaffold permit. These permits are only issued to the scaffolding company. Please ask your scaffolder to contact us.
The Highways Act allows the Highway Authority to issue a licence to permit a scaffold or hoarding to be erected on the highway. We need to know where the scaffold or hoarding is going to be erected and for how long it will be there. This is so that we can coordinate any other works that may be programmed by others.
A small fee shall be required prior to a permit being issued.
Any Scaffolding or Hoarding that is erected without a permit is in breach of the Highways Act and shall be removed immediately. Highway Services may pursue a prosecution.
