Marriage Act (approved premises)
The local authority can consider an application for approved premises, other than the register office as a venue for a civil (non-religious) marriage. For example, this allows hotels to apply to the local authority for approval.
Application is made to Salford City Council's licensing team. The fee, which should accompany an application, is £954.
Consultation takes place with The Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester County Fire Service, Building Control Inspectors and the Chief Registrar.
Inspections of the premises will be undertaken by the Registrar, Building Control and Greater Manchester County Fire Service. Once granted a licence will remain in force for three years.
There are eight establishments which are currently licensed by city council to conduct civil ceremonies. These are:
- Buile Hill Banqueting Suite, Salford
- The Lowry Hotel, Salford
- Monton House Hotel, Monton
- Novotel, Worsley
- The Lowry, Salford Quays
- The Marriott Hotel, Worsley
- The Willows Variety Centre, Salford
- Worsley Court House, Worsley
