Consumer advice

Consumer advice

Consumer advice is provided by a centralised service, the Citizens Advice Consumer Service. They have trained specialist advisors who can give you comprehensive and impartial advice on your rights under consumer law and provide practical solutions on how to resolve your complaint.

The Citizens Advice Consumer Service works in partnership with Salford Trading Standards. All information they receive relating to Salford residents or businesses is notified to us for intelligence purposes and if there is a criminal element to your complaint, the Citizens Advice Consumer Service will refer the matter on to the most appropriate Trading Standards department for consideration.

The Trading Standards department may contact you for more information. Salford Trading Standards review all referrals and prioritise resources to tackle the most serious problems at local, regional and national levels where criminal offences or persistent civil breaches are occurring.

You can also find useful information and advice, including template letters to help you make a complaint to a business, on the Citizens Advice website.

Reporting a business

If you do not need advice but want to report a business, you can report the business to the Citizens Advice Consumer Service. Alternatively if the business is in Salford you can make a report to Salford Trading Standards using our online reporting form.
