Bluetongue information
The Secretary of State made a declaration to extend the Bluetongue protection zone from 12.01am on 7 August 2008.
The zone now includes the whole of Salford. This will allow farmers to vaccinate their ruminant animals against the virus as recommended by Defra.
The Defra website gives further details on the extent of the protections zone and advice on and copies of movement licences.
Further advice may be obtained from the Defra helpline on 08459 33 55 77 or Salford Trading Standards on 0161 925 1380.
