Comprehensive Area Assessment
Comprehensive Area Assessment was introduced in April 2009. This was the first year of a new inspection regime lead by the Audit Commission which looked at public services in an area, and replaced the star rating system used in previous years.
"Overall Salford City Council is performing well" said the report by inspectors which is available on the Audit Commission's Oneplace website. The report showed Salford City Council scoring three out of four for managing its performance and for financial management.
This was the first Oneplace assessment of Salford conducted by regulators and inspectors such as Ofsted and lead by the Audit Commission. The assessment was issued in December 2009. In May 2010 the new government announced that they would abolish Comprehensive Area Assessments and therefore there has not been a Oneplace assessment of public services in Salford for 2010.
