Salford’s Skills and Work service

Get more information about the Skills and Work service that helps you realise your potential by connecting you to jobs and training. This service is open to anyone aged 18 or over who lives in Salford.

You may be able to get free training and support depending on your age and circumstances. Whether you are in work or not, you can get independent advice about skills and job possibilities. The following organisations can provide more information:

Careers advice for young people

Connexions Salford is for people who want careers advice between the ages of 13 and 19.

For face-to-face advice, your local Nextstep is a free service for adults. They offer information and advice to help you improve your skills and your job prospects whether you are in work or not. Use the freephone number 0800 107 4060 for more information.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are a way to learn while you work. They are open to anyone of working age. You can apply whether or not you are already in employment.

Financial support for training

If you are completing a training course, you may be able to get a grant, a loan (including Professional Career Development Loans to study at college or university), help with childcare costs, or other financial help.
