Carers employment
Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends. It can give you a break from caring. Once you stop being a carer, you may want to carry on 'giving' or maybe you want some kind of paid work. Volunteering can help you gain skills and experience.
If you do a lot of volunteering, this can affect your carers allowance. Get advice from our welfare rights service.
Jobcentre Plus offers a range of support for carers wanting to start or restart work. They will also tell you how your finances might be affected. If you want you can also contact our welfare rights service.
You can telephone Jobcentre Plus on 0800 055 6688.
Direct.gov also has more information and advice about your work options.
