Case study: Emma

Little Hulton: classroom assistant
I had been out of a job for a while because of health reasons. This had really knocked my confidence and I didn’t feel I had much to offer. My advisor, Richard, helped me build my confidence, allowing me to rediscover the many strengths I had, and encouraging me to go for the jobs I really wanted. He also helped me with my interviewing technique.
I didn’t get the first job I went for, but Richard went through things with me, giving me concrete advice on how to improve in the future. I got the next job I went for! I now work as a teaching assistant, and I love it. The job is really interesting and challenging and I want to make it my career. I have even enrolled on a course to help me go further.
