Case study: Ruby

Ruby

Eccles: gym instructor

I left school with no qualifications and I didn’t have any confidence in myself. I didn’t even try to get a job even though I felt depressed that life was passing me by.

My advisors built my confidence and gave me the practical help I needed to get started. I got quite a lot of training, including NVQs in sports and health. Stuart, my advisor, even came with me to look around my current workplace.

I really enjoy my work, I have loads of ideas on how to make exercise more interesting to people and I really like the fact I help people feel better about themselves.

My job has really changed my life. I now feel more confident than ever. My attitude has changed too. I’m more relaxed in myself.
