Case study: Sonia

Sonia

Salford: customer services advisor

Before Skills and Work I was studying Diet and Nutrition at university. I heard about them through friends and was referred through an advisor at Eccles Gateway.

My advisor at Skills and Work would email me about a job going in this area and I thought okay I'll go for it. She said if you go in they'll ask you for an interview and after the interview they will give you the job. So I went to the interview and I got it straight away. It was really easy to do and I'm enjoying my job.

Skills and Work are there if you need any help at all with CVs, updating them, getting someone to read them, proof reading, spelling mistakes or anything that is going to help you. They also offer an Interview Techniques course where you go in there and they assess your needs. The course is then tailored towards you so if you're falling down on one part, for example shyness or confidence they will help you with that.
