Case study: Valerie

Charlestown: cleaner and business student
I had worked for many years as a nursing care assistant but I really needed a change. Somebody had recommended Skills and Work and I went along hoping for some guidance on how to go about changing things. They found me a free business and IT course in my area that I’m really enjoying. They also helped me find a job to fit around my course and family responsibilities. My jobs pays really well and leaves me time to concentrate on my course.
I now feel really proud of myself, I feel important and with the confidence to do what I really want to do. In a couple of years I see myself running my own business.
My advisor, Janet, was a really nice lady. She was really helpful and really went out of her way to make things work for me. She also helped me with bus fares to attend interviews.
