Roy Chadwick
"It's a dirty job - but somebody's got to do it!" That's the view of Roy Chadwick who has spent a quarter of a century cleaning out Salford's sewers and septic tanks.
"Being covered in excrement for 25 years doesn't sound too good - but I've had plenty of laughs along the way," he said cheerfully.
On film he recalls the day when a septic tank 'kicked back' and squirted him full in the face and mouth.
"The lady at the property was very apologetic and gave me a tot of whisky to swill round my mouth to kill off the germs - but she was shocked when I swallowed it. Like I told her, I'm not going to waste a good glass of scotch!"
Although he has 'retired' from the job since filming took place, the former lorry driver is now working part time for Environmental Services on an agency basis.
