Barbara Spicer

Barbara Spicer, the chief executive of Salford City Council, is the senior paid officer with responsibility for the corporate management of the city council.

Barbara is the leader of the council's chief policy adviser and also chief executive for Greater Manchester Police Authority.

Barbara has led the city's successful bid to relocate the BBC to Salford Quays as part of MediaCityUK, creating a development of international significance. She represents Salford in the City Region and specifically has a Chief Executive lead role on economic development, employment and skills. In that guise Barbara is also Chief Executive Lead on the Multi-Area Agreement (MAA).

She has a strong ethos of partnership working which has been evident throughout her career locally, regionally and nationally. She has a genuine belief that collaboration, with the private sector and with local and central government colleagues is the way to achieve the best outcomes. Her passion for public services and demonstrable energy and enthusiasm are focused on ensuring that local people connect with the major opportunities provided by the regeneration agenda.
