Reception aged children

Do you have a reception age child in your setting?

If you do, did you know that you have a legal duty to attend training and complete an Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) for each child? You will then need to submit externally moderated scores for this to the Department for Education (DFE). This means that the child's Key person will need to attend meetings and training throughout the year.

Please let Starting Life Well know as soon as possible if you have a child who falls into this category so that we can support you and invite you to the correct meetings.

In addition to providing support for settings with reception children, the local authority have a duty to ensure the statutory requirements for early years foundation stage profile (EYFSP) is carried out in accordance with the national curriculum assessment and reporting for the 2018 to 2019 academic year.

As part of this process, local authorities must have a full internal plan that details how the local authority will deliver its statutory duties for external moderation. The plan must address any concerns that arose from the 2018 external moderation process. In order to create transparency of the process, a copy of the plan should be made available to schools and settings.

The plan for the 2018 to 2019 process is available and can be downloaded below.
