Community Development

Part of the work of the neighbourhood management teams, is to support local residents to get involved in their community. We recognise that local people know their areas better than anyone else, and want to make sure that local knowledge informs everything we do.

We want to make sure there are a wide range of opportunities to involve residents. There are lots of ways you can make a difference to your area such as volunteering with a local community group, attending local task groups, participating in local consultations, or representing your group as a member of community committee.

If you want to get involved, or get your voice heard regarding what you want to see in your local area, the neighbourhood management team should be your first port of call. We can advise you on how to get involved in a way that suits you.

Each of the eight Neighbourhood Teams have at least one community development worker. They can provide advice about setting up a community group or starting a project in your area. They will be able to put you in touch with the right people and advise you on who to talk to make your idea happen.

We want to make sure that local residents who want to get involved in their neighbourhoods have the support they require. We can advise you on where to go to access training and advice.
