Have your say

Transport Innovation Fund (TIF)
A message from John Merry, Leader of Salford City Council – October 2008.
"The beginning of December will be your chance to have your say on what you think of the Transport Innovation Fund.
“I believe the TIF package is good for Salford and I would encourage residents to vote in favour of it when they get their referendum ballot paper.
“Whether you agree or not, the referendum will be where your opinion will make the final difference.
“There is no getting away from the fact that there are more cars than ever on our roads, causing more and more congestion.
“The package of proposals in the Transport Innovation Fund has been agreed as the way forward to try and tackle some of these problems.
“As well as significant investment in public transport, the proposal includes the first large-scale congestion charge outside London.
“You can use the links from this page to find out more about what is proposed for Salford and how that might affect you personally.
“The referendum itself is being organised by an independent returning officer on behalf of all the Greater Manchester authorities.
“He will be sending out the ballot papers from the end of November and anyone who’s on the electoral roll at October 31 will be guaranteed the opportunity to take part in the poll.”
