Moving into any kind of care setting can be emotionally difficult and confusing financially for the client and their family/carers. This course will take you through the basics of funding options and update on key developments since the introduction of community care.

Aims

To give a straightforward overview of how residential care is funded through benefits, local authority contributions, the NHS and the client and how this changes during the time in care.

To explore the benefit issues for the person entering care and for their family/carers.

Suitable for

Social care, health, voluntary organisations, advice workers and anyone who needs to understand more about the benefit issues for people moving into residential care.

Ideally participants need to have completed the introduction to benefits course or have a working knowledge of the benefits system.
