Closure of the Greater Manchester School for Dental Care Professionals (DCPs)

There will no longer be a dental service available from the Greater Manchester School for DCPs at Eccles Gateway Dental Department.

Appointments are no longer available as the students are finalising treatment for patients that need care before the school closes.

As of 31 March 2021 the school will close. Therefore you will need to find another dental service suitable for your needs.

There are a number of ways you may be able to find a dentist:

In the meantime, If you require emergency Dental treatment you can access the Greater Manchester Urgent Dental care service on 0333 332 3800.

The staff of the Greater Manchester School for Dental Care Professionals would like to thank all patients for their support during our time at the Eccles Gateway Dental Department.

The community dental service is still available, further details below.

The following services can be attended on a drop in basis or by self referral:

Community dental service

The community dental service provides specialised dental services to people living in Salford with complex needs who are unable to use general dental services. Patients may be referred to the service from a variety of sources including other dentists, doctors, other health and social care professionals and support workers.

The contact telephone number for Eccles Gateway Community Dental Service is 0161 206 1699.

Student placements within the service provide extensive opportunities of dental experience for dental students and dental nurses who can carry out routine dental work such as examinations, fillings and extractions but do not provide complex treatments.

You will need to already have a GP and come into the centre and register to find out if you are eligible for treatment by students. If your dental needs are not suitable for student treatment you will need to find a local NHS dentist.

The community dental service does not provide emergency dental treatment.
