Economic Development in Salford
The city council's economic development teams provide a range of services that play a key role in achieving one of the council’s foremost strategic aims, to increase the economic prosperity of Salford.
The aims of the teams can be summarised in our three themes:
- Encourage investment in the city by raising the profile of Salford as a business location and boosting confidence in the area through the procurement of resources, the provision of an excellent communications network, land, premises, an attractive environment and to offer first class information, advice and support services to potential investors.
- Supporting business development by meeting the needs of businesses in Salford, improving competitiveness and efficiency, promoting new business opportunities and encouraging business growth.
- Enabling local people to achieve their full potential by improving skills and education, raising aspirations and achievements and enhancing the employability of local residents, particularly those facing barriers to employment and training.
Working towards these aims are three teams:
Economic Investment
The Investment team’s provides assistance to companies looking to relocate / expand into Salford. The Team offers in partnership with other agencies including MIDAS a range of support services including
- Bespoke Property Search
- Locality Information
- Familiarisation Visits
- Planning Process Guidance
- Financial Assistance
In addition the team takes the lead on many initiatives including Salford Innovation Park, Managed Work Spaces and Promotion of the City. One of the team's top priorities at present is facilitating a comprehensive review of the current employment stock in the city

Business
The Business team is the first point of contact for businesses with questions about grant support and business development. They offer information, advice and support to help business start-ups, expansions and relocations in the city and offer specialist advice on land and premises.

Employability
The Employability Team maximises employment opportunities for Salford residents. The team coordinates a range of employment initiatives such as Skills and Work and the award winning Salford Constuction Partnership, as well as providing the strategic lead for skills and work in the City.
