Community, Health and Social Care

"To improve the life chances of Salford citizens and to promote the independence of individuals and communities in Salford"
Community, Health and Social Care directorate is responsible for neighbourhood management, community cohesion, culture and leisure, sports, adult social care, community centres and grants to voluntary and community groups.
We work closely with partner organisations, communities and individuals to develop and deliver services and activities that help create the best possible life for the people of Salford.

Strong, cohesive communities mean safer communities, healthier citizens (of all ages and backgrounds) and a better and cleaner environment. Neighbourhood management is about helping communities grow stronger, by giving individual neighbourhoods the power to make decisions about their area.
Helping citizens maintain and improve their health and independence benefits individuals directly. Helping citizens do this in their communities makes the communities stronger and more cohesive.
Because we believe in meeting people's health and social care needs, we don't just arrange 'traditional social services' such as residential care and home care. We also manage 'universal services' such as libraries, sport and exercise sessions and Salford's museums and art gallery, plus we organise and support a wide range of social activities across the city. These all help people to keep physically and mentally active and part of their communities, whatever needs they have.
