IEG 3

Every local authority has to submit an annual “Implementing Electronic Government” (IEG) statement to central government.

These statements are used to assess how well each local authority is doing in delivering e-Government against the government's 2005 deadline for e-enablement of council services and to review how the authority has utilised previous IEG funding.

You can download a copy of our statement below. The document was submitted to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister on 10 November 2003.

What does e-Government mean to Salford?

Ultimately, e-Government in Salford aims to change something significant – something that matters both to our customers and to our organisation. We try to see things from our customers’ perspective; whether as citizens, businesses or visitors.

What is their experience of our services? And, within that, how well do we know and understand individual segments such as youth, the elderly or the disabled? How will we plan and deliver appropriate, tailored, high quality/high performing services to our customers?

To be successful e-Government has to make a difference across the spectrum. It has to enable the organisation to build services around customers’ needs, preferences and personal aspirations. We’ve achieved some notable successes already.

Our IEG3 statement details some of the things we have done in the last year and some of the things we are going to do in the coming years. But most importantly, it describes a new model we have adopted for service delivery to our customers for future collaborative working across the whole authority.
