Certificated computer courses

As well as offering lots of beginner level computer courses, we can also help you to progress on to a nationally recognised qualification like CLAIT (Computer Literacy & Information Technology), ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence), or GMOCN (Greater Manchester Open College Network).

ECDL

The ECDL qualification covers a very practical spread of knowledge, which is extremely useful in either a working or home environment. By attaining this qualification it lets an employer know what a good level of computer skills you have, which would be the same level in any of the 125 countries who now use ECDL.

The syllabus is covered in 7 modules, each of which must be passed before an ECDL certificate is awarded:-

  1. Basic concepts of IT
  2. Using the computer and managing files
  3. Word processing
  4. Spreadsheets
  5. Database
  6. Presentation
  7. Information and communication (Internet & Email)

CLAIT

Each unit is certificated separately, but for the candidate to achieve the overall Level 1 Certificate, it is necessary to complete five units, including the mandatory Unit 1 ~ using a computer.

Mandatory Unit : Using a Computer

Optional Units - choose any 4 of the following:

  • Word Processing
  • Electronic Communication
  • Spreadsheets  :  Databases
  • Desktop Publishing
  • Graphs and Charts
  • Presentation
  • Graphics
  • BBC Becoming WebWise
  • Computing Fundamentals

GMOCN

GMOCN is suitable for those learners who have limited experience with computers, and will cover basics like how to use a computer; word processing; internet & email.
