Disability Discrimination Act 1995, Part III Action Plan
Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) requires every business, large or small, to become more user-friendly to Britain’s 10 million disabled people. The law means that businesses will need to make ‘reasonable’ changes - such as adapting premises, removing physical barriers or providing alternative methods of service delivery to ensure accessibility - so that people with disabilities can use the service.
This report sets out the action taken to date by the city council on the physical access issues relating to the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA). It also includes an Action Plan for each directorate of Salford City Council, assessing the implications that part III of the DDA imposes and actions to be taken in order to comply with an implementation date of October 2004.
