The Cabinet (political leadership)
Cabinet members (who all belong to the political party with the majority of seats on the council) make decisions on services within the council’s policies and budgets.
The Cabinet consists of the Leader of Salford City Council, his deputy and eight councillors who are 'lead members' with responsibility for different services.
Some cabinet members also have a special portfolio of responsibility covering "cross-cutting issues" which involve more than one service and these are indicated in the tables below.
